Been long!

Spent part of this week in wires etc., rebooting the 3 year old desktop, slashing hard disks and cutting up my dad's old visas so I can keep the shiny part with the bird! The other part was spent gorging at all the wrong times i.e. chips for breakfast, lunch at 4, dinner at midnight and instant noodles at 2am.

Am missing day one of the 4D chalet because i've got rolling blackouts in my head like right now and my tum isn't feeling so good :(
Tomorrow, tomorrow for unhealthy gorging and late nights! Ugh.

Going to have to blow some cash on officewear agaaaain for lawprog because my black thimun skirt SHRUNK IN THE WASH and it'll make an awesome miniskirt now :D

Eh bye off to fix something else.

I need to leave behind all that noise:

It seemed so solid before,
Was it ever really there?

You promised the skies to me.

Those words you said that day in the Shaw House, in public,
in the middle of a burger
- changed,
- extreme,
- hurtful.
Were you not able to feel the irony of it?

You'd forget, you'd say,
guys don't remember things.

But i do, i'll say.
I hate you for your groundless accusations
For your refusals to stop
And check the ground
For your own tailbone.

You have no idea how many relationships this cost
And you never will
Because all it matters
Is yourself, in twilight, in dark, in loneliness.

Haven't you turned around
To see who else there was?

Well I'm sorry, you'd say.

But that day, you slashed my self-portrait,
and it won't ever be the same.

Goodbye to you.

Hello y'all im finally seventeen :)

THANK YOU many many for the birthday messages, yes I celebrated my coming-of-age by falling asleep at 10pm on the 23rd.
Specially to the people who stayed up late (my stupid nokia decided to empty my inbox again on the 24th so i cant rmb who exactly!) : Hester, Jhosy, Clarine, Yiling, Jiehan, Yingci, Yinkuan, Sharman, Winata, Hui Shan, Yujun, OQH (representing RV 011 haah), Gary & more (that got deleted!) for the smses :)

And um many many friends on facebook :) And JRECL for sneakily (and unsuccessfully) trying to pretend that I sleepwalked and ordered a year's subscription of Seventeen magazine for myself HAHAHA thanks guys :)))

And more, Project Work Group 013 surprised me with a wunderful Oreo Cheesecake from Swissbake!
Kaylene: You spent your birthday doing Project Work!
At our usual project work place, see RHS of picture: My awesome pink Dell Mini Inspiron netbook (which doubles as a 2009 xmas present from my parents yayayayayayay)

Mmm yes I cut all my hair off! :D Less shampoo less water 20 minutes to air-dry = FREEDOM
Gonna wait for it to grow out before layering etcetc.

On the 25th we went out again (after another botched Project Work meeting) to try the new Twist N Dunk pizza :)
The spices on the pull-outs were not too bad, but the best part was pulling, sinking it into the pot of melted cheese and getting the crushed nachos to stick on. Would love it if they made the pizza part larger and pull-outs smaller, and have free refills of cheese! :DDD

Doesn't feel very different from being sixteen except that i seemed to have shaved a few years off my age AGAIN image-wise. No more full bangs now till I learn how to make those look decently older.
Dinner at NewYorkNewYork tonight with the 4D girls :D update later

Project Work STINKS! 4 more days to official WR submission and nothing is near perfection yet UGH :( And i'm away slacking my butt. My brain juices aren't running and there's OP to edit, I&R to start... fml :(
Need to go on a shopping spree for foolscap paper and cheap pens before I start on the holiday homework zz.

OMG I just had to say something about this.

Quickie food updates:
Had some awesome lunches at Breeks and Pastamania this week: The student meal at Breeks (introduced by Wong lala) is a bomb, garlic bread at Pastamania has a quirky, appetising taste!

Tried loads of new stuff, found out that Cold Storage @ Bugis Junction serves up steaming Oyako Don ($3.40) in adorable black lunchboxes on saturday afternoons, can you say yum?

Strawberry cheesecake ($15.90) from Marks and Spencers is the road to indulgent heaven really, and Kaylene and Stella will agree that their Swiss Extra Fine (Milk, Milk with hazelnuts, Dark) Chocolate munchies ($12.90) are a good accompaniment to project work. Moolah spent on the pit in my stomach is worth it, i guess :D

Anyway, back to the point of this entry: I was on my ANTM rush hour load and watch after flyer-passing for SHF today and GUESS WHAT?

Fo, my ultimate FAVE from cycle 12 (teyona can eat dust.) got signed on by Ambercrombie & Fitch, Target, Trina Turk AND Nike OH EM GEE! She was way more covergirl than all the final three, honestly and teyona has to be about the worst top model they produced (as everyone on the forums will agree!)

Here's a screengrab of her from cycle 12 before Tyra decided to shave those beautiful locks off her! Gorgeous facial features, (you've got mexican, italian and a little japanese if im not wrong) with her signature red beret, not exactly supermodel height but way taller than the petite range already. Gee I'm so glad she made it when she said she would after Brazil!

Her face is a map of the world is a map of the world,
You can see she's a beautiful girl she's a beautiful girl

Guess she decided to keep the freckles after gonnabe-supermodel status. YAY FO! Didn't have the opportunity to rave about her because I was simply just BUMMED after her boot in cycle 12. Twenty years old and modelling for Nike, you got to give her the hat.

Cycle 11 and 13 don't seem to have models that promising Analeigh was a definite fave for 11; am pining for Erin and Rae in Cycle 13 woohoo :D

Oh and speaking of tellyfans, Privileged is AWSUM :) Tata!

No more 6AM morning bus runs! No more stuffing breakfast before assembly! At least for 1.5 months :)

Anyway before I got some serious bacterial infection, I had a meal worth mentioning.

One-north had a great promotion on crabs so we had 2 kilograms worth of it for dinner that night and little else. IMHO boiled is the best way to taste a crab, because restaurants are generally forced to serve up the fresher ones because there isn't much flavouring to mask the staleness. And the gravy was awesome at One-north because you can taste the sweet stock of the crab's meat itself.

I've always thought the pincers were to crabs as drumsticks were to chicken. But noooo. After a lot of wrestling with the nutcracker tool, I've found that the Carpus and Merus (wrist and gawdknowswhat) have baby fists of succulent meat well-hidden in the curves of really really thick shell. Takes all 10 fingers and one hardy mouth to work this one, but it is all worthwhile when you get the meat.

People who forgo prawns, shellfish and crabs because of the shelling effort need to learn to love the experience!

Boiled red crabs

My dad celebrated his 34th birthday (he likes to think he's 34 :) )sometime this week with um, a durian extravaganza planned by my mum. D24 durians by the bag, Goodwood Park durian puffs, and a D24 durian cake. I'm not a big fan of durians (not worth the mess dont you think!) but the puffs were light and genuinely durian! The cake was interesting, because the top layer was glazed lemon jelly but still tasted strongly of durian while the cake was filled with generous chunks of durian flesh.

Ah well back to project work, speaking of which, our weekend meetings and stopovers at NLB were filled with lots of yummy finger food, graced by the presence of Tomato Tornado Chipster = FUN!

P/S I've bought two vests (with huiyee's fashion smartees) and am looking for a smart black structured one now so do recommend if you know of any!

Hello, it's been long! It's kind of amazing how ordinary things become distractions during mugging T.T
I'm pretty sure last friday was about the most stressful period of my life this year :(

I'm just glad they're over and that I got to go to the awesome Equinox Semi Lunch Buffet (~$65 per pax) courtesy of my dad! It was a good experience at fine and literally 'high' dining...

Because I got this great view while eating!
The Equinox is located on the 72nd floor of The Swissotel, what more can you do for image points??

The buffet wasn't a huge spread but it was expensive and rather selective I suppose.

Oh yeah, there were fourteen kinds of cheese at Equinox, which gave me a shock because there were 8 at Club Med, and I thought they already had everything!

I loved the seafood spread - particularly impressed with the way the crabshells have already been cracked open but they still leave the excitement of removing it for us. Tried an oyster for the first time and I could smell the sea in its shell! The picture is of the prawns though.

It's called a 'semi' lunch buffet because a main course is included, and this is my ahem: Grain-fed Chicken Breast Cordon Bleu, Potato Mousseline and Market Vegetables.

Pity because what the image conveys is chicken breast cutlet but with a scoop of the best mashed potatoes (okay not really they are actually quite complicated to make) I've ever ever had and a nice stalk of asparagus.

There was a Thai food spread that shouted chilli hazard, and a huge dish of Vitello Tonnato, which is wait lemme google this - omgawd italian VEAL! I thought it tasted like duck, but chewier!

Oh and you won't believe this, there was foie gras and caviar and salmon roe in adorable soup spoons! But they didn't taste good in the way I expected it to be. Good to me is like, a boiling pot of pig trotters. The foie gras and caviar were chilled affairs so.. wonderful experience anyway, especially having heard soooo much about those foods.

Mmm typical japanese bar with two kinds of soba, and ha I forgot who told me soba tasted typical everywhere but these definitely dont.

Then the dessert bar! Six kinds of the most fanciful cakes ever that you get to cut your own slice from, loads of chocolate desserts, a fondue bar with 3 kinds of dipping chocolate haha! Very sinful but joy-inducing :D

My sis got a kick out of digging every ice cream bucket there was at the ice cream bar :)

I think that chocolate pot on the RHS is pretty cool because you can slurp the mousse up and chew on the pot after that :DDDD
There was a group of seemingly loaded Japanese students (in school uniform), many many corporate people and weirdly, a handful of Korean men and their mothers there as well, it's quite interesting how so many people actually have money to blow on this way of eating regularly.

I have a new fantasy. Fantasy because I'll probably never buy them:

STEVE MADDEN FLATS! So comfortable and good looking but sets you back 150 :(

Oh I caught the MTV Awards and the whole Kanye West disaster was a disaster - poor Taylor Swift, but watching the youtube responses to them were HILARIOUS! It's funny how so many American teenagers are crazy mad at him and spent on average 3 minutes spitting vulgarities into their webcams, but i think it was actually good for Swift? Cos the coverage on this issue just made her way more well-known.

Hmm kay im going back to bed because I forgot there wasn't school today and actually went there -.-

It's a feeling like this
It's centrifugal motion
It's perpetual bliss
It's that pivotal moment
It's (ah) subliminal
This kiss, this kiss
It's criminal

speaking of love, i need some chemistry with chemistry. or the end will be dismal.

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore
And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Eh I left school without handing in my SEA graphic organiser zzz.
Horrible week and people so cold (they beat the ice freezer) included but I am determined to keep my tolerance level above their heads hmmph.

Now that most of my piling schoolwork has been attended to (I think), and IT'S FRIDAY, I can make another albeit belated food update!

This is a must-try:
THE SHEPHERD'S PIE BY THE SHEPHERD'S PIE

Featuring two slabs of stir-fried and seasoned minced black pepper chicken topped with hand-mashed potatoes grilled on top MMMMM. Still steamy after delivery! Pity they only deliver to areas in the East, to the South at exorbitant prices and not at all in the West :(
I was some way through my food when I realised it was so good, i needed a picture.

Each tray of shepherd's pie is 9-by-9 inches, great for gatherings (as depicted)
Doesn't really fit in with the curry and satay but since it was national day my aunt made signature foods of every race!
Beats all the telly pizzas we've been having every year for natl day haha :D
So racially harmonious:
  • C: Peppered snapper and rice
  • M: Ketupat and Satay and lethal satay sauce
  • I: Indian curry
  • O: Shepherd's Pie and broiled broccoli
Stuffed our faces with happy races! (No pictures of stuffing.)

Chocolate Fudge Cake from Ah Teng's Bakery, Raffles Hotel is also awsum stuff recently.
And I say that because I couldn't get a picture of it before it was gone right after Chelsea's birthday celebration.

The fudge is not too chewy, and thick enough. But rich enough to cause a sore throat haha.

I discovered another new food deli (month-old or so i guess) entirely dedicated to potato products that I shall visit this weekend :) Extremely eager to try their hand-mashed potato cottage pie, cos I think there's this certain quality to hand-mashed/hand-made anything compared to factory-made everything - refer: fast food =/

Bye!
